World Breastfeeding Week 2026 Observed by the Department of Community Medicine, GMC Ananthapuramu: On the occasion of World Breastfeeding Week 2026 (1st–7th August), the Department of Community Medicine, Government Medical College, Ananthapuramu, organized a health education programme at the Urban Health Training Centre (UHTC), Bukkarayasamudram. The programme was conducted under the guidance of Dr. T. Madhu, Professor and Head of the Department, with active participation from Assistant Professors, Senior Residents, Postgraduate students, House Surgeons, and paramedical staff.

World Breastfeeding Week 2026 Celebrations

The Department of Pediatrics organized World Breastfeeding Week 2026 celebrations to raise awareness about the importance of breastfeeding for maternal and child health. The programme included an educational session for lactating mothers, administration of a breastfeeding pledge, and an awareness rally to promote exclusive breastfeeding and community support for breastfeeding mothers.

The Department of Pathology, Government Medical College, Anantapur, successfully hosted the IAPM Zonal Undergraduate Pathology Quiz on 10 July 2026 under the aegis of the Indian Association of Pathologists and Microbiologists (IAPM). The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from nine medical colleges, with two undergraduate students representing each institution, making a total of 18 participants. Government Medical College, Anantapur secured the Second Prize, reflecting the institution’s strong academic performance and commitment to excellence in pathology education.

Government Medical College, Ananthapuramu Students Shine in International Heartfulness Essay Competition. Government Medical College, Ananthapuramu, proudly celebrates the outstanding achievement of its MBBS students in the International Heartfulness Essay Competition, organized globally by Shri Ramachandra Mission and the Commonwealth on the theme, “Being in Tune with Nature is a Prerequisite for Human Evolution.” Among 155,981 participants worldwide, the college secured three top global ranks: P. R. Sree Charitha (2021 MBBS) – 3rd Rank, Oruganti Nithya Sri (2022 MBBS) – 6th Rank, and Valmiki Sai Vishnu Priya (2021 MBBS) – 7th Rank, bringing great pride and recognition to the institution.

Silver Jubilee (2000–2025) Pylon Foundation Stone Laying Ceremony

The Foundation Stone for the Silver Jubilee Pylon of Government Medical College, Ananthapuramu, commemorating its Silver Jubilee (2000–2025), was laid by Honourable Health Minister Sri Y. Satya Kumar Yadav Garu, in the esteemed presence of the Guest of Honour, Anantapururamu Urban MLA, Sri Daggupati Venkateswara Prasad, on 07.02.2026.

National Doctors’ Day 2026 Observed at Government Medical College, Ananthapuram

National Doctors’ Day 2026 Observed at Government Medical College, Ananthapuramu. National Doctors’ Day 2026 was observed on 1st July 2026. The celebrations commenced with the ceremonial unveiling of the statue of Bharat Ratna Dr. Bidhan Chandra Roy by the Chief Guest, Dr. Akbar Saheb, Retired Superintendent of GGH, Ananthapuramu, in the presence of faculty members, students, and staff of the institution.
On this occasion, Dr. Akbar Saheb and his family were felicitated in recognition of their contributions and support to the medical profession. Senior faculty members of the college were also honoured for their dedicated service, commitment to medical education, excellence in patient care, and valuable contributions to the growth and development of the institution.
